Many factors: Determine the long term outcome of a child born with cataracts. To get and maintain good vision, your child will need lifelong care from an ophthalmologist. Close follow up is essential to avoid blindness. Discuss this concern with the child's pediatric ophthalmologist.

Congential Cataract:: Congential Cataract can cause amblyopia/lazy eye if cataract not removed. Given new technology & eye implants, the vast majority of kids do very well after surgery. More info: eyedoc2020.blogspot.com
