Possibly.: Cancer is usually detected by finding an enlarging thyroid nodule. It is much less likely to find an abnormality of thyroid labs that indicate cancer because of the relative infrequency of thyroid cancer and the high prevalence of thyroid abnormalities. There are certain families with higher risk of thyroid cancer - the best test here is to know your family history of endocrine tumors.
