Residual Root: Better to remove any remaining roots, especially if exposed, sometimes they can become a nidus for infections.

Not likely : Following tooth extraction, there is a small a possibility for a tooth or bone fragment to slowly work it's way out through the gingiva. Depending on what the fragment actually is, it may cause discomfort and potentially become mildly infected. I would advise seeing your treating surgeon for a quick follow up to identify the issue and course of action. Good luck.
