OK to let her sit: Holding your almost 3 month old in a sitting position is not harmful to her back or spine...she is probably wanting to explore her environment and has a better view from a sitting position. Make sure she gets some "tummy time" on a firm surface a few times per day and also put her on her back to sleep. Mention your concern at her next PE so her doctor can check her tone but it sounds normal!

No: At that age, if she is already holding her head steady, and you hold her by supporting her body, her back and spine will be fine. When she is tired of that position, she'll let you know.
