taking 1mg of tenex (guanfacine) every night made me somewhat hypersexual. however, taking 2mg several days ago made me impotent. can someone please explain how alpha-2 agonists cause impotence?

Alpha 1&2 receptors: Try one and one half.
It seems that alpha 2 blockade is used in impotence to increase nitric oxide, but it seems you need both alpha 1 and 2 blockade to block vasoconstriction, since alpha 2 also block the release of norepinephrine and that will increase with alpha blockers.
