Several causes: There are several causes for the upper arm to ache near the shoulder. The most common are a tendonitis or a bursitis. Both of these can be treated with ice, rest and gentle stretching. Seeing a physical therapist can help with a more rapid recovery and decreasing the pain. If condition is worsening or is severe then see your doctor as soon as possible.

Upper arm pain: Could be minor like sprain or strain, or due to arthritis in the shoulder or Rotator cufff problems but with history of CA, evaluation of bone coud be indicated if metastases is a consideration
