Yes and no: During the Vietnam war, the temperatures were very high, the water undrinkable, and about 10% of our soldiers passed a stone. Drinking plenty of water goes a long way to preventing most types of stones, but not everyone who passes low urine volumes will get a stone. So your idea is partly right -- I see you've had a stone & trust you'll keep your own urine clear.
