Avoid further injury: Don't lift weights. You may want to consult an Occupational therapist who can give you some hand exercises to regain manual dexterity. Twirling a pen between your fingers or using special putty can rebuild lost strength. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!

Answer depends: Perhaps the most common nerve injury from lifting weights is carpal tunnel syndrome caused by hypertrophy of the flexor tendons. This occurs with very committed weight lifters. This can be treated by night time wrist splinting sometimes. Where are your symptoms and how did the injury occur? That will help us answer the question directly.
