A : A trigger finger as dr press stated is the most common cause. Other things include abnrmal travel of the extensor tendon, joint spurs or arthritis and on rare occassion inflammationor swelling of the tendons elsewhere.

Sounds : Sounds like you are describing a trigger finger. I have added a link to the american society for surgery of the hand information on this very common condition. It is generally easily treated with a steroid injection or in some cases a small operation. See a hand surgeon. If that is the problem, it is an annoyance only. Good luck!

Trigger Finger: Most likey reason is that you have a trigger finger (or two). An experienced hand surgeon can help. Sometimes antiinflammatories can help (oral or injectable), and if not, a relatively simple surgical procedure can correct it. The first step however, is to see a hand surgeon and get the correct diagnosis.
