AnotherDingForWhitey: White in the mouth usually means dead tissue, like black when on the rest of the body. Yes, a canker sore should hurt, but not always. Especially if it's a variant sore, or the result of minor trauma. But I'd have it checked by a doctor if it doesn't go away within two weeks (three at most), sore or not. Especially if you've smoked or chewed a lot of tobacco or other irritant (like betel nuts)

Biopsy: A lesion like this cannot be identified without observation and a biopsy which is a small sample of the lesion. It can usually be done with local anesthesia. Due to the location of the lesion you must take this very seriously and have it checked. If your dentist does not do that procedure see an oral surgeon. DO NOT DELAY.
