It is possible: Walking usually won't make the tear worse, but it can. Twisting it's more stress on the meniscus. However, this all depends on the location , pattern and size of the tear.

Generally not.: Usually not, as long as it is not painful to you. Twisting/pivoting on the knee may make it worse.
