Depends on a number: of factors, like what symptoms you have; how does the wrist look and feel; any other symptoms; any arthritis you have; is it dominant side; the condition of the skin and soft tissues; See your Orthopod and he'll do what is the best treatment for you. OLD scaphoid fx: such that there is a NON union or a malunion can be associated with arthritis, cartialge wear, "collapse" of the normal arrangment of the wrist bones and all that must be considered when evaluating treatment options. there are many good options, from resecting a portion of bone or bones or partially fusing part of the wrist, to even just treating the symptoms.
