I suffer from extreme insomnia, my doctor switched me frm .25 xanax (alprazolam) to 1mg ativan, i took at 7pm...it's now 1:48 am would it be ok to take the xanax (alprazolam)?

Advice for 9 h. ago: I never understand why people are not asking these questions when the doctor gives them the prescription, or the pharmacist dispenses it. They are your primary sources of information, or should be. Insomnia, especially when severe, is an indicator of an underlying problem, and not a diagnosis itself. Benzos should only be used short-term in most people. I couldn't say whether its ok or not.
