Probably not serious: A SMALL quantity of bright red blood in the stool of a young person (like you) is usually due to a trivial cause such as anal fissure or hemorrhoid. It's POSSIBLE that it is due to a more serious problem, but unlikely. A rectal exam by a doctor can help make the diagnosis.
