Sex of fetus: Visualization of the fetus, although not absolute can give a clue to the sex of the fetus. Amniocentesis performed at week 16 will tell the sex by chromosome testing. Chorionic villus sampling, done at 10 weeks, also tells the sex by genetic testing, but there is a slight increased risk of miscarriage with this procedure.
