What is incision biopsy?

'to cut' biopsy: 'incisional biopsy' literally means to 'cut out some tissue' to get a good sample of a particular lesion (usually skin but can be any biopsy). An excisional biopsy is similiar but this refers to removing the whole lesion with normal tissue around it (as in a small dark mole removed). Biopsies are sent to a pathologist who 'reads' the slides under a microscope looking for abnormal cells/diseases.
