I have this black / purple bump on my left leg. it is 1/2 a centimeter in diameter and it is puffy and red around the edges. what is this.. thing?

Bruise?: Could this be a bruise? Sounds irritated if it has red around the edges---Was there anything there initially, like a birthmark or an irritation or was there a bug bite that may have bled into itself from scratching? If it persists for few more days, should be seen by your physician or dermatologist.
