Red bump: Hi KavitaB, the red bump is likely a bug bite, pimple, or blocked follicle. The 'spots' around it are from the tiny blood vessels surrounding the wound becoming engorged with blood to help with the healing process. If it goes away in a few days then no big deal. However, if the purple spots start to spread or if the red bump becomes larger, painful, or starts to ooze (pus), then go to your doctor
