3 months : By 6 weeks, you will be able to resume most activities. By 3 months, you should be back to normal.

3 months: I would follow your surgeon's advice. Bending at the waist and twisting are not good after a microdiscectomy. Many times, surgeons remove the portion of the disc which is pushing on a nerve root, but there may still be part of the disc remaining to maintain the cushioning effect provided by discs. You do not want to reherniate the remaining disc.
