A member asked:

Can someone tell me what it is like to have a laminotomy and microdiscectomy on the low back ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Usually not bad: Usually it involves a little discomfort to expose the disk problem. In many people the discomfort is much less than the nerve pain that prompts people to have the disk removed. Many will be recovered in a matter of weeks. It is still major surgery and problems can occur. Discuss any concerns with your surgeon.
