A member asked:

I have a history of cold sores & blisters on lip that area that come & go & my ob recommended that i get pills for them so i won't have any during lab?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Herpes labialis: Cold sores are caused a recurrent expression of the virus Herpes Simplex, which has 2 subtypes. Taking suppressive medication, if you are pregnant, can have a protective effect on your baby so that you prevent delivery during an active infection. Mothers with chronic Herpes infections( multiple outbreaks in life) have a low risk(2-4% chance) of passing that to the baby at birth. It's your choice
