Newborn dryness: Dry skin in a newborn is very common. While in the uterus they are floating in fluid, causing the skin to dry/peel more after birth. Using certain products like baby washes (Johnson&Johnson) can make it worse. Hypoallergenic cleansers (Cetaphil, Ceravue) can be used, followed by the brand's moisturizer. Full immersion baths are not necessary, and should not be done until after the cord drops.
