Possibly: UTIs can progress to a kidney infection, however this is usually associated with fevers, chills, and overall feeling sick. Also kidney stones can cause back pain and commonly misdiagnosed as a UTI depending on the location. I recommend returning to primary doctor and consider obtains imaging if warranted.
