A member asked:

Is there anything that can cause a fibroscan to give a 'false negative' - or a good reading in someone with cirrhosis?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fluctuates: We pathologists aren't quite sure what to make of these new imaging techniques that assess the physics of the liver. What we've always knows is that cirrhosis -- unlike a skin scar -- is a dynamic process, prone both to partial regression if the cause is removed, and only one factor in a liver's consistency. Other things in the liver -- fat, what's being stored, inclusions -- probably impact.
