NO HEAT! Go to ER: Ice pack on the way to ER. Do not heat! Reaction to brown recluse spider can range from mild irritation to large area of flesh eating type reaction. Take the spider with you for positive ID. Treatment may include, washing, elevating, antibiotic ointment and pills, ice, ibuprofen, Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) surgical debridement of dead tissue. Some severe cases may be treated with dapsone and steroids.
