Yes: I would recommend seeing your PCP. The area around the eye may be prone to infection. If the insect bite is not infected, the local reaction may be controlled by a cool compress, and local application of Caladryl lotion. You may also use Aoral antihistamine such as Benadryl. The dose may be discussed with the pharmacy and your PCP.

Yes: If the swelling is painless & without color change or drainage the chance of infection is minimal. Any pain/color change/drainage deserves an evaluation immediately. Swelling from a bite rarely fades in less than 3 days, regardless of what you do. Benedryl can prevent further swelling but does not speed up recovery.
