Hi BP and pregnancy: Yes, this is too high for your age and for pregnancy. It creates high risk for pre-eclampsia and toxemia. And, BP will rise further in the second half of pregnancy. Please follow OB instructions; if available to you, a high risk OB physician can be very important.

Yes: Your Ob needs to know if your BP is elevated. The top number should be less than 140. This is especially important in the second half of pregnancy as it can represent pre-eclampsia and this can be quite serious. Sometimes BP is elevated from stress but in this case is usually not persistent. It would be best for you to talk to your OB since he/she knows your history.
