Many causes: There are many causes of low platelet counts, but the most common cause of isolated low platelets is either drug toxicity or immune-mediated thrombocytopenia (ITP). The large platelets usually reflect younger platelets and suggest that there is an increased turnover, which is commonly seen in ITP. You should be evaluated by a hematologist.
