Not a big: concern, but it may be worth monitoring for a while, especially if you take medicines that get metabolized through your liver like Tylenol (acetaminophen) and most PPis like Protonix and many antibiotics. Would certainly make sure your alcohol consumption is minimal. If levels rise or a continued concern, would rule out any viral infections with simple blood tests.

No, not usually: The most common causes would be a virus, alcohol, meds, or obesity. The obesity can cause fatty liver disease - an accumulation of fat in the liver of people who don't abuse alcohol. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease is common & for most people, causes no symptoms and no complications, but can cause an ALT or AST rise. But in some people with fatty liver disease, the fat can cause damage.
