A member asked:

What happens to your body's fat cells when you exercise a lot? are you born with a certain # of fat cells? do they shrink or ever get eliminated?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Stable after puberty: Most people believe that fat cells can increase in number up through adolescence. After that, the fat cells increase in size. Therefore, try to avoid childhood obesity. Not sure if proven, but a good goal.
