Do you get more fat cells when you gain fat, or are the present fat cells in your body getting bigger?

both: But the opposite is different: when you lose weight the cells will mostly shrink, but stay there (not disappear). That is one reason why is important to avoid unnecessary weight gain. Keep a healthy diet, do exercise, avoid fast food and excess of sugars/fats; eat more raw and natural. Ask your dr for an ideal diet for you. Good luck.
