Do the popular over-the-counter premenstrual syndrome medications really work?

Depends: Cramps can be reduced with well-timed doses of non-steroidals (like Ibuprofen or naproxen) and depression might be modified slightly by products with a resemblance to antidepressants like st john's wort or those with hormonal content. You should get much better more consistent relief from strategies designed for these symptoms by you and your physician.

Some help, some time: We experience our periods differently. Likewise PMS and our response to PMS treatments. Eat right. Get moving. Find a pause in your day to r-e-l-a-x. Otc supplements which may help: calcium 1200 mg/day, vitamin b6, ground flaxseed, chasteberry, st. John's wort. Hope this helps.
