A member asked:

I have a severe barking cough and back pain, which i think is my lungs, any idea what it could be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Viral bronchitis: It is impossible to diagnose this without a full history and exam, but the nature of the cough suggests bronchitis. Without knowing whether you may be breathing in toxins such as atmospheric pollutants or cigarette smoke this is likely to be due to viral infection and the back pain either due to strained rib muscles or to inflammation of the lining of the lungs (pleuritis).
