Maybe,maybe not: Up to 5 % of the population carries strep in their throat year round and tonsillectomy will not change that pattern.How the diagnosis was made, how sick the kid gets with infections, how the tonsils look, all play into the possibilities.It is good that a consult with an ENT has been arranged.Write down your ?? before you go and get all the pro's and con's.It is a significant surgery.
