What is the best over-the-counter mouthwash for gingivitis?

Crest Total: Having said that, mouthwash will not cure gingivitis. You need to have your teeth and gums professionally cleaned. You then have to brush gently 2x/day for a full 2 minutes by the clock, and floss or Water-Pik daily. Mouth wash will help support these actions, but does not replace them. Start by seeing your Dentist now. You need the help of a Professional.

Gingivitis: Gingivitis is caused by bacterial inflammation of the gum tissues. Remove the bacteria (proper brushing, flossing, and almost any mouthwash if you like) will help alleviate your symptoms. Hardened colonies (calculus) needs to be scraped off by a dentist or hygienist... all the brushing and mouthwash in the world won't remove it.

Chlorhexidine OTC: Even if you take excellent care of your teeth and gums at home, you still need to see your dentist regularly . Some chlorhexidine mouthwashes are also available over the counter
