Referred pain: Often this shoulder pain is referred from the diaphragm which sits at the base of the lung. With sudden deep breathing when you run,the diaphragm is stretched causing the sharp pain which is referred to the shoulder but is not coming from the shoulder itself. See your physician if you have further concerns, however.
