Don't: A goof diet does not have to be something that you've seen on television although their advantage is that they are pre-packaged. i advise no more that 1-3 pounds a week. Just take a goof well rounded diet and the weight will come down. A good nutritionist can help

No rush: Take your time with an endeavor like this. Your focus will have to be several fold including incorporating some form of regular exercise into your weekly routine, but also focusing of a healthy diet with close monitoring of your caloric intake.

Lifestyle change...: The only 'fast' way to lose weight is to stop eating. This is not the best for obvious reasons. You didn't gain the weight overnight, you shouldn't expect to lose it any faster than you gained it. Standard advice is to improve the quality and quantity of your food, and become more physically active. The goal should not be to get thin, better to get 'fit'.
