MPGN is a disease caused by an abnormal immune response which targets the urine filtering apparatus of the kidney. It can be caused by infections, autoimmune disorders or cancer and can lead to kidney failure. It is most often seen in children or teens. Treatment depends on the symptoms. There is no cure, but the disease progression can be slowed with diet, medications and steroids.
