See below: Glomeruli are filtering units in the kidney- they are microscopic and each kidney has more than a million of these. Inflammation of these filtering units cause blood and protein in urine, BP elecvation, fluid retention, retention of wastes like bun, creatinine, elevation of potassium, and acid levels in blood. Usually painless.
