I had a barium x-ray done. tech said i had food residual in my throat. what does that mean since i fasted? does the barium mimic food?

Wait for report: Although techs see radiographic films daily, wait for the radiologist's report or the ordering physician to discuss the results with you. That said, residual barium may be seen in the pharynx or esophagus for a variety of reasons including incomplete emptying, Zenker's diverticulum, cricopharyngeal hypertrophy, achalasia, dysmotility.
