Definitely: Definitely. Sustained cardio (walking, running , treadmill) during the daytime. Any amount helps. 30 min. daily is good. Avoid doing it too close to bed time. Weight lifting not that helpful for sleep.

Yes Exercise Helps: Exercise help with sleep latency and sleep quality. but i think you are asking is good to do a workout at gym if you you wake up in the middle of the night. the answer to that question is that is not the best time to exercise.It is really best to have at least an hour of quitetime between exercise and sleep. if waking in middle of the night you should consult with a doctor to find out why.
