Elmiron (pentosan) SE: Elmiron (pentosan) is a long term medication used for interstitial cystitis. Side effects are very uncommon. The most common side effects are gastrointestinal: rectal hemorrhage (6%), diarrhea (4%), nausea (4%), abdominal pain (2%), dyspepsia (2%). Hair loss occurs 6%.
