Low Vit D: can cause Osteomalacia, Osteopenia, Osteoporosis. There is a lot of data coming in from longitudinal studies that suggest that low Vitamin D contributes in some way to many chronic degenerative neurological conditions including dementia and MS. In my mind the only issue is what level we should target when supplementing it. There is a wide therapeutic window Vit D 25-OH level of 30-100.

Not Clear: The connection between low vitamin D and many chronic inflammatory diseases has been made, but it is not yet clear the extent to which the level effects the disease or the disease effects the level. Regardless, it is always a good idea to get it back to a normal range. Your level must be monitored periodically though because bit D is stored in fat and can reach toxic levels.

Couple points: Get your vitamin D levels under control ASAP. Cannot predict your future, but here are some facts about MS and Vitamin D: A study of US military showed increased risk of MS when low vitamin D levels, and if one had vitamin D deficiency with MS, increased risk of relapses, and disability. We are discussing risk numbers here, not cause and effect, so do NOT worry.
