Diagnosis: The first issue is the specific diagnosis. Once that is made, then treatment options can be given. Knee swelling can come from injury, arthritis, or even inflammatory conditions such as gout. Do not hesitate to be seen. Usually an exam and possibly other studies and/ or aspiration will determine the cause.

Diagnosis: There are numerous reasons for knee pain and an evaluation is generally required. Most orthopedics exams are directed at identifying surgical problems. Patients are often surprised much of knee pain is poor control at the hip and ankle.
