Depends: Knee swelling occurs because of something going on in your knee. So , you need to treat the cause of the swelling. Typical causes include arthritis, cartilage tears, lyme disase, etc... Best of luck

Depends : Depends in the cause. You can start with ice, light compression, nsaids, and low impact strengthening exercises. The fluid can also be drained. If inflammatory then cortisone injections can help. If caused by internal derangement such as a cartilage or ligament tear then you might need to get this fixed.
