Provoked seizures: can occur through over stimulation of the brain. This can occur in the setting of withdrawal from alcohol, barbiturates and benzodiazepines or with over stimulation due to amphetamine, cocaine, caffeine or excitatory amino acids (glutamate , aspartate) Often two problems may contribute to the lowering of the seizure threshold (sleep deprivation, fever, electrolyte imbalance.
