High uric acid: Blood uric acid elevations can have a genetic cause; is there a family history of gout? Otherwise, kidney impairment, diuretic therapy, being overweight, eating organ meats, regular alcohol all can elevate uric acid. Also, cell turnover from neoplasms and chemotherapy can elevate uric acid
