A member asked:

Liver seems to be releasing gluc in blood after i've been asleep for a few hours. gluc levels 85-95 most times but 100-110 at wake up. pre-diabetic?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Glucose variations: This blood glucose as fasting is just over the current accepted normal fasting level of less than 100. Hormones cycle too -- "dawn phenomenon" is a gradual release of cortisol and catecholamines which arouse us and which release glucose from stores. This is happening; it is not accurate to state that you are pre-diabetic yet, but make changes: eat less simple carb; achieve ideal weight; exercise
