A member asked:

35 weeks pregnant, abnormal ecg but anaesthetist says this is normal when pregnant as the heart is being over worked. is it normal to have ecg changes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ekg: The Anaesthetist has a lot of experience, so I would trust; It is true that pregnancy calls the heart to perform a bit harder; it has to pump more blood around and nourish uterus, placenta, and baby. The EKG may show a higher current (voltage), and this is consistent and usual. Is your BP rising too much? Ask OB about BP.
