Do you mean RED &...: Swollen eye? Sounds infected if it is unilateral. If on both sides maybe allergy. Especially if it is painful, affecting vision, recent trauma or exposure to another individual with infection, this needs to be taken care of right away. If you have fever, or pain in the eye don't mess around. Get seen as soon as possible, certainly this would be a reason to go to ER. If no fever, get seen w/in 24hr
